LINSU CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF LIBERIAN STUDENT SAM POAR IN INDIA AND CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE JUSTICE

Monrovia, Liberia - December 23, 2025 - The Liberia National Students’ Union (LINSU) unequivocally condemns the brutal and tragic killing of Mr. Sam Poar, a 29-year-old Liberian student who was pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in the Republic of India. This reprehensible act represents a grave violation of human dignity, justice, and the fundamental right to life.

LINSU expresses its profound sorrow and outrage over the circumstances surrounding Mr. Poar’s death. He was a promising Liberian scholar whose life was cruelly and unlawfully cut short while seeking academic advancement abroad. His death is not only a devastating loss to his family but also to the Liberian student community at home and abroad.

LINSU is actively coordinating with the Association of Liberian Students in India (ALSI), which has confirmed that four suspects connected to this heinous act have been arrested by the Indian authorities. While this development is noted as a necessary first step, LINSU stresses that arrests alone are not sufficient. What is required is a transparent, impartial, and conclusive judicial process that ensures accountability to the fullest extent of the law.

Hence, we are calling on:

 The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic

missions, to maintain sustained engagement with Indian authorities to ensure justice is

neither delayed nor denied;

 The Government of India to guarantee a thorough investigation and fair prosecution of all

individuals found culpable in this case;

 Relevant international and student bodies to continue monitoring the case to ensure

adherence to due process and human rights standards under international laws and treaties;

 Stronger protective mechanisms for the safety, welfare, and dignity of Liberian students

studying abroad.

LINSU emphasizes that Liberians and Liberian students abroad are ambassadors of the nation, and the government of Liberia should devise a diplomatic mechanism to ensure they are protected at all times, regardless of their country of residence. Any act of violence against them must be met with swift justice and decisive action.

To the family of the late Sam Poar, LINSU extends its deepest condolences. We stand in solidarity with you during this painful period and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to pursuing justice until the very end.

Yours in Students’ Service,

Signed:
